Codepage-related software
This page contains modified versions of the FreeDOS MODE and DISPLAY which support codepages in the compressed DRFONT format.
These are based, respectively, on MODE-2005may12 and DISPLAY-0.12. The following changes have been made:
- MODE now accepts DRFONT codepages (normal and UPXed) and converts them into standard CPI format before sending them to DISPLAY.
- I had to rename some of the MODE source files so the compiler command line didn't exceed 128 characters :-)
- DISPLAY now handles codepages with more or fewer than three fonts (since converted DRFONT codepages tend to have four fonts).
- For the same reason, DISPLAY does not require the fonts in codepages to be 9780 bytes long.
- DISPLAY does not crash selecting a codepage if it is loaded on a machine with no XMS.
If you want to generate DRFONT codepages, you could use CPICOMP or PSFS2CPI from PSFTOOLS.
