DOS software
DOS itself
Based on Microsoft's MIT-licenced release of MS-DOS 2:
- Complete compiling source for MSDOS.SYS 2.00: msdos200.zip
- Complete compiling source for MSDOS.SYS 2.11: msdos211.zip
- Source for DEBUG 2.10 and 2.30 with the CALL 5 bug fixed: debug.zip
Software for DOS
The following programs are aimed primarily at MS/PC/DR/FreeDOS:
- Codepage utilities
- The Cornerstone database
- Programs for Windows 1.x
- Software in the Amstrad XT section - including programs to test CGA/MDA displays.
- PGCBMP, a simple bitmap viewer for the IBM Professional Graphics Controller.
- KB (25k Zip) displays keyboard ID and scancode information.
- SaveROM (16k Zip) saves the contents of the BIOS ROM to disk. It will also save other ROM regions such as the VGA ROM. It does not support banked BIOS ROMs (eg, those from Pentium-class or later machines).
Other Software with DOS ports
The following programs stored elsewhere on this site have DOS ports. In some cases, the DOS port may be of an older version:
- The PSF Tools allow bitmap fonts to be converted and manipulated in various ways. In particular, they can be used to construct CPI files for DOS.
- JOYCE, the Amstrad PCW emulator.
- LibDsk, floppy drive / disc image access library.
- UnQuill can disassemble or run Spectrum/Amstrad/Commodore adventure games created with the Quill authoring system.
-
Some of my CP/M programs include DOS ports:
- FATBIN combines two COM files (one for CP/M and one for DOS) into a single file which will run on both systems.
- M3CONV converts snapshots made by a Multiface 3 to/from formats used by common Spectrum emulators.
- MSODBALL converts the Amstrad PCW 706k disc format to/from a DOS-compatible format by rewriting the disc directory in-place.
- SP2BM converts Canvas files created by the Stop Press DTP program to .BMP.
- A utility I wrote to extract data from the Freescape games Driller, Dark Side and Total Eclipse.
- TAPTOOLS, some utilities for dealing with the Spectrum .TAP file format.
