Software for DOS

The following programs are aimed primarily at MS/PC/DR/FreeDOS:

• Codepage utilities
• Software in the Amstrad XT section - including programs to test CGA/MDA displays.
• PGCBMP, a simple bitmap viewer for the IBM Professional Graphics Controller.

Other Software with DOS ports

The following programs stored elsewhere on this site have DOS ports. In some cases, the DOS port may be of an older version:

• The PSF Tools allow bitmap fonts to be converted and manipulated in various ways. In particular, they can be used to construct CPI files for DOS.
• JOYCE, the Amstrad PCW emulator.
• LibDsk, floppy drive / disc image access library.
• Some of my CP/M programs include DOS ports:
  • FATBIN combines two COM files (one for CP/M and one for DOS) into a single file which will run on both systems.
  • M3CONV converts snapshots made by a Multiface 3 to/from formats used by common Spectrum emulators.
  • MSODBALL converts the Amstrad PCW 706k disc format to/from a DOS-compatible format by rewriting the disc directory in-place.
  • SP2BM converts Canvas files created by the Stop Press DTP program to .BMP.
  • UnQuill can disassemble or run Spectrum/Amstrad/Commodore adventure games created with the Quill authoring system.
• A utility I wrote to extract data from the Freescape games Driller, Dark Side and Total Eclipse.
• TAPTOOLS, some utilities for dealing with the Spectrum .TAP file format.
